Eat like Chihuahua feel like a Great Dane
Saddle up your horse this is your lucky day if you are in the THW, HealthyWeigh, Challenge. The beef is coming estimated at a ton or 33 bales of hay at 65lbs per bale. We are starting at 20,000 lbs. with an estimated time of arrival at ten weeks from now and an estimated weight loss of over a ton. 75 teams full of the spirit and in for the bronc riding ride of their lives. YaHOO!! Yippee!! All are already judged winners by showing up!!
I a Chihuahua. Thats what THW calls those who have achieved their goal weight. I have reached that status because my weight hovers in the teens. In case you didn’t know and according to sources during a Google search or if you ever owned a Chihuahua. They are deeply and constantly affectionate. You will find them not hard to love it all. The breed is naturally small rather than being bred down from a larger breed. Their eyes are large and very round and emit a kind luminous quality that reflects that special energy they carry within. They have much energy in a tiny package. Maybe that is why I get to be an assistant for the challenge.
I like being a Chihuahua but I have to remember who I am and that I am not a Great Dane. If I forget and eat like the Great Dane I will lose my Chihuahua status. However I will remember that I am indeed as powerful as a Great Dane. I just can’t eat like one.
The theme for this ten week challenge is Western. I wore a black cowboy hat, Black leather jacket and My grandfathers sheriffs badge around my neck. My grandfather was a sheriff in North Dakota and I inherited his badge. I proudly announced this fact to the trainer at All Pride Fitness, the clerk at Safeway, the Starbucks Barista and the Art Students in my class. Everyone who I happened to come across got the word that I was the Grandaughter of the first sheriff in Dunn County was in town.
This challenge is the most successful weight loss program I have ever seen. Each week people lose weight. The team that loses the most weight wins $1,000.00 but everyone in the challenge comes out a winner. Some of the winners don’t even remember how they spent the prize money. If you ask anyone in the program if they feel like a winner they will say an enthusiastic Yes! I lost weight and had a lot of fun.
The participants were encouraged commit. Commit to being powerful. Powerful committed people will get more out of the next 10 weeks than anyone in the room. What you are going to do has never been accomplished before get excited. Make a decision today to go overboard with this. Why not? What do you have to lose?
What breed of Dog does your weight reflect? We live in the land of plenty and the best abundance you will ever receive is taking off those extra pounds and finding out you are a Chihuahua. Yippee ki-yay! Ki-yay!

The alarm clock rings and a new day is here. I wonder what will this day be like as I switch on the shower and climb in letting the water wake me up to the possibilities of a new day. The steam from the hot water makes it way to a quote I have hung on the wall and it sways gently guiding my attention to the words.
Welcome to Planet Earth. There is nothing that you cannot be, or do, or have. You are a magnificent creator. – Abraham/Esther Hicks
As I slip into the shower the words come in too and I can feel them enter my body clearing away the accumulation of sticky stuff as the hot water, words, and soap is happily applied to my body with my hands. The water thrums against the curtain with an hynotic beat and a mantra starts up in my newly cleansed mind. ”It’s a New Day”, “It’s a new day” and a little voice says, “Sandra what will you do today?
I really do have the power to choose I remember what Abraham said, “It’s as easy to create buttons as castles”. So in my mind I create a future self that looks like a great upgrade of me. she has on dark pants and a silk blouse and lives in a house that is surrounded by beautiful landscaping. She is preparing for a trip to Europe to teach Law of Attraction and then a meeting with visionary leaders that are meeting to create plans for making earth a paradise on earth.
As I brush my teeth and look in the mirror I know the best is yet to come and I feel happy and expectant about the future. Is this just a fantasy or is this a way to bring in a new desirable future? Then the question do I live for the future or enjoy what is here in this now moment?
Knowledge brings joy, freedom, and empowerment and in my study of the Law of Attraction I know that it is possible to have everything if you are a match to the desired vibration of the thing you want. This is the basis of the LOA or Law of Attraction.
I am passionate about teaching and learning everything about the great law of the Universe. The Law of Attraction.
What is the Law: The law of attraction is the magnetic power of the universe that draws similar energies together. The law of attraction manifests through our thoughts by drawing to us thoughts and ideas of a similar kind and people who think like us and situations and circumstances that are similar. Positive and Negative thinking brings about positive and negative physical results.
The good news is that you can become a deliberate creator by learning some basic tools on how to attract what you want in life.
I am currently getting a certification in the Law of Attraction and am actively practicing the process in my daily life with amazing results.
New Day Awake holding intent to hold self in high vibration with source and desire reader does the same. Bring forth expectation of both of us maintaining individual alignment of who we really are and that our relationship will be one of continual joyful expansion.
Have you ever been to a new place where you are completely emerged in beauty, and with the perspective of amazement of abundance at nature’s bounty? This is how a plein air artist feels and experiences when they go to new places and paint. Today our group went to a high vista and painted the Hawthorn Bridge in Portland, Oregon.
Plein air: En plein air is a French expression which means “in the open air” and is used to describe the act of painting outdoors in natural light. The light and nature are the master teacher for the artist and their creations. I feel it is a direct contact with the great creator, God, or universal force.
We were on the next to the top floor of a parking structure and painted this scene. It was a cold winter day and the energy was busting with the noises of a parade across the bridge and the remains of fall leaves added color and the canvas became full of paint applied with stucato and ligato strokes as feeling of fun ran through my brush strokes as I applied the paint. I painted quickly and with the momentum of the energy of cold day, cheers from parade, and inner amazement of the scene before me.
I received a welcome phone after the painting was finished and in my gallery on Fine Art America call from a magazine called “Country Pleasures” with an even welcomer request. The magazine wanted to feature my Art on their cover with five of my other images and a bio in side. What great publicity. I had to scramble to get things in by their deadline but fortunately I was well prepared so was able to do it in just a few hours.
The message here is the Boy Scout Moto “Be Prepared” and hold the intention that you will get those calls of opportunity.
Keeping positive thoughts is where all opportunity, synchronicity, and pleasure is manifested. Anytime we are feeling good and full of the energy of the thoughts that make us strong we are in abundance and the resistance to getting what we do not want is gone. With this wall of resistance taken down abundance of opportunity can find us and manifest. I am so grateful for learning this “Law of Attraction”. I am continually astonished at how well this all works. I use these ideas in both my Life Coaching Business and my Artistic Career and to keep myself happy and fulfilled. I have a good life.
How is this accomplished you ask?

Daily Creative flow today was a flowing acrylic pour. I already have a lot of ideas for the next step. This way is sure fun. Tomorrow I will develop it further. I am quite excited to see what happens. The Painting is 16″x20″ on stretch canvas.
I showed my students this piece and explained how the technique was achieved and how there are four Daily Painters that I am associated with in the process of daily painting as way of developing creatively through creative self-discipline. This is not work but fun I explained to them and sharing it with others of like mind is like a trip to the candy store every day. To my absolute surprise two students said Sandra, “when I grow up I want to be just like you” I guess that says Creating all the time is a good life. and a good path to follow if it appeals to the youth of today. Art is truly the sweets of life.
Today I joined another Plein-Air Painter, Joy at Crystal Springs Rhodendron Garden in Porland, Oregon. It was a beautiful fall day with foliage putting on a new outfit of golds, orange, and bright red. We both expressed how grateful we were to be in this beautiful setting painting.
Joy is the energy behind the Breath of Plain-Air Group. If it wasn’t for her organization ability I would not have so many wonderful places to go. Being involved with groups helps artist to keep motivated to do their work.
Today we went to Sauvie’s Island Wild Life Refuge again for Jef Gunn’s Saturday Afternoon Plein Air Class. We had good weather and were all inspired by the days beauty. We saw two eagles, flocks of snow geese, and soaring flocks of birds. Nature played a magnificent symphony for our group.
plein-air painting paintings, framed prints, greeting cards and posters are available on Fine Art America.
Today’s Daily Painting is the “Draw Class” sponsored by the Portland Plein Air of Portland and taught by Kitty Wallis. I feel more successful every class. We are learning many exciting drawing techniques that are helpful for my drawing skills.
The Class is exploring the techniques of Nicolas Carone using his text book “The Natural Way to Draw” and Nicholas Carone techniques through Kitty Wallis’s guidance.
Daily Painting to me is about what’s going on in my world of art: daily paintings, art, my process, and my thoughts about art in general. I have a commitment with two other painters to email a daily painting by 9:00pm every day. There are no rules and this creative penatration of daily painting has greatly inflenced my daily life and art has started to grow in tremendous and unexpected ways.
Work. Keep digging your well.
Don’t think about getting off from work.
Water is there somewhere.
Submit to daily practice.
Your loyalty to that
Is a ring at the door.
Keep knocking, and the joy inside
Will eventually open a window
and look out to see who’s there.
- Rumi
Daily painting today was on my Rose painting, 16″x20″, and the view of the gorge from the Maryhill Museum. I refined the color notes with new combinations. As an artist I am always trying to refine my paintings.
I also watched the space shuttle launch and took several photo’s from the television. I will use these later to paint a painting. News note on the shuttle: CAPE CANAVERAL, Fla. – The space shuttle Atlantis blasted off Monday on a 11-day mission to the Hubble Space Telescope, the last scheduled repair visit before the space shuttle fleet is retired. It is always good for artists to collect good reference pictures.

"Rooster Rock"
Daily today was more work on the plein air painting done at Rooster Rock. I really like how this painting is looking. Oil Painting on 10″x12″ Ray Mar Canvas Board.

"Pastel Landscape"
Daily today was a landscape using Nu-Pastels. 5″x7″ I am exploring different color schemes and lighting effects.

Daily painting today was a made up portrait. Inspired by my trip to the wonderful Tuilip Festival in Woodburn. 5″x7″ watercolor.
Today’s daily painting is with Jef Gunn and the “Plein-air Class” on the Dike at Sauvie’s Island. A wonderful place to paint.
Today I went to the Portland Plein Air and Studio Painters at Oconnel’s Restaurant in Portland.
The Portland Open Studios was discussed and one can still attend this weekend this event. I hope to go.
There was great talk about one of the groups visit to Italy. I have a goal to go to Italy one day and study art. It was so much fun to see the visual art and hear all about my favorite place Italy. from Italy! We all were able to view a two volume set of books about Wolf Kahn purchased on EBay.
Kitty also brought in her new eBay acquisition, a two volume set of books about Wolf
Kahn. Daily painting is a ongoing idea with me and there are two in the group that have taken a challenge to create a piece of art by 9pm each day and email it to each other. We were all invited to participate. This might be just what I need to get going on the daily painting again.
We also talked about how to avoid the Winter Blues by seeking our place in the Sun. Made me think about the mural I painted for a business in Vancouver who wanted Sunny beautiful places on her walls.

Today I won the “HealthyWeigh” Challenge and received a Miss America Banner. The banner has these words embroidered across the front
Decide-Commit-Succeed
As reported in the HealthyWeigh challenge news :“Noon held our winners for the day and our greatest weight loss of the day. Team ‘String Bean Jeans’ danced away with the win with a 2.03% of weight loss for the week! Sandra and Sherry were excited as they left the building with banners worn proudly and beautiful throws courtesy of one of our amazing clients.”
Along with my wide bounteous smile there was something else different about me. I felt and walked differently. I had a new lofty, proud gait described as a sashay from my admiring subconscious. I had experienced an “ah-ha” Moment realizing I had busted three of my beliefs that were not doing me any good. Do these myths sound familiar in todays world. If so is it time for all of us to rethink what we believe.

Age Myth Busters
There are many myths around age that I feel could be labeled Myth busted. As I thought of my own life recalling at age 62 I was hired as an Art Teacher and the current myth was “You are too old to get a job” and at age 68 busting another myth that you are too old for a new career and here today I am starting a new career as a coach with JB Glossinger’s Morning Coach Team and receiving training under Credentialed Coach Robert Stack. Remember the myth often stenciled on tee shirts that loving friends and family give each other “It’s all down hill from age 50. Turning the corner into the 70’s finds me again busting that myth with a forward look to a future with great energy, enthusiasm and expectancy. I feel that we all can be remarkable in our second act of life, if we encompass the banner words DECIDE-COMMIT-SUCCEED as we live our lives.
